2009 HORSE AUCTION BREEDS SUCCESS!
The 7th RCMP Horse Auction was held Saturday September 26, 2009 at the RCMP Riding Hall in Ottawa.
With 20 horses up for sale and over 50 registered bidders in the room Stewart James, from James and Hill Auction services and RCMP Horse Auction Chairman, Ludwig Christmann worked hard to sell the horses to the excited crowd.
When all of the dust had settled all 20 horses were sold, representing a total of $270,000. The top selling horse of this sale was Champ a four year old black gelding from the licensed Hanoverian stallion Escudo and the Hanoverian mare Gilda. Champ has stellar blood lines he is predisposed for the jumping ring and also has three good balanced gaits.
Thank you to all who participated in the 7th RCMP Horse Auction and we look forward to seeing you in October 2011!
The RCMP Horse Auction is a prestigious equine event that is typically held every other year. The horses offered for sale come from the RCMP breeding program in Pakenham Ontario. As a buyer you purchase horses with wonderful dispositions, many have been well trained, Hanoverian certified, from the World famous Musical Ride breeding program.
Surplus horses selected for the auction includes a mixture of foals, broodmares, and former Musical Ride horses. These fine horses are turned over to the RCMP Foundation (RCMPF) for sale.
Since 1995 the bi-annual horse auctions have generated enough funds to allow the RCMP Foundation to provide over $600,000 to the breeding program. These funds have allowed the RCMP to further enhance the breeding program that supplies horses for the internationally renowned Musical Ride.
